Owners of killer dogs may face life imprisonment in UK
Tue Aug 6, 2013
It sounds like a law holding owners responsible for their dog's actions should satisfy both of you. While any dog attack article tends to bring out people on both sides of the "dangerous breeds" debate, (though thankfully, neither of you represent the extremes in these debates) a law increasing cons …
Does Kraft's 'Zesty' print ad go too far?
Fri Jun 14, 2013
In reply to: Kelly Wirtz #12 As a woman I half agree. While I certainly appreciate the male form, it is not necessary and indeed a turn-off to suggest a strange man is naked. That is, you could show the same amount of his gorgeousness in a pair of shorts and it would be more effective a …
Bad teeth, broken dreams: Lack of dental care keeps many out of jobs
Wed Jun 12, 2013
Brushing and flossing does not prevent all dental problems in all people (though greatly reduces the risk and overall number of cavities etc.). If you have never had to go in for a professional cleaning and have never had a cavity or gum disease then count yourself lucky.

Drug treatment Omegaven that could save infants' lives not yet approved by FDA
Fri Jun 7, 2013
Exactly. While I can sympathize with this doctor and with the parents, actual data needs to be produced. The way I see it there are two reasonable options.
'Woman in red' sprayed with teargas becomes symbol of Turkey protests
Tue Jun 4, 2013
The gun debate is out of place here. We are talking about a protest, not a home invasion. If a protester brought a gun they both undermine their message and risk getting imprisoned or killed and put other protesters in danger of the same. By clearly demonstrating that it is a peaceful protest they …
'Mystery' illness in Alabama mostly cold and flu, tests show
Thu May 23, 2013
What ignorance are you referring to? If it is signalling a false alarm I would rather health officials investigate possible new outbreaks than to just assume it's flu and colds even if that's the more likely solution (unless false alarms become so frequent they detract from real threats in a signif …
'Ruby the Heart Stealer' on witness stand: Berlusconi parties featured stripping 'nuns'
Fri May 17, 2013
My boyfriend looks kinda young and I totally carded him when we met. I would find it flattering myself.
UN urges: Eat more insects! (Seriously)
Mon May 13, 2013
As a biologist who almost specialized in entomology I say bring it on. While insects may never make it as a staple in the West, it's our loss - I imagine they could make a nice crunchy topping to salads.
Supreme Court likely to advance gay marriage but stop short of broad ruling
Fri Mar 29, 2013
kelldon - I'm sorry, it seems you don't know what the first amendment means. Sounds like you need to go back to high school to learn the basics and that freedom of speech does not mean freedom from critique, criticism, or consequences for your words/actions from private citizens.
